Stuff4Life supported the recent Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) hackathon called ‘Hack the Loop’.

Five groups of students from the Universities of Leeds, Exeter, Cardiff and Edinburgh, supported by the Circular Economy Institute, CEIC Wales and Exeter Centre for Circular Economy, listened to compelling speeches from industry experts before designing their own solutions to the challenge of textiles and textile waste.

An hour or so later, the judges which included Stuff4Life founder John Twitchen alongside circular design expert Katarina Rimarcikova and ACS’s chief sustainability officer Michael Cusack.

The winning group’s solution was a brand-level Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for Clothing that would incentivise customers to return clothes for remanufacture (and use Stuff4Life technology). We couldn’t agree more!

Find out all about it here. We will also post the Circular feature here when it is published.
