Why we’re optimistic about stuff… Whilst we’re always optimistic, we’re especially positive about the value of reuse and repair. Not just our work on workwear debrand and rebrand, but especially “bikes as a vehicle of opportunity” showing (what we always knew)… it’s more than just a bike. This report, recently launched at the Houses of Parliament, was produced by Stuff4Life founder John Twitchen for resource and waste management firm FCC Environment, and builds on FCC’s annual attitudes survey which shows a ‘second-hand surge’ with 84% of Brits now buying pre-loved goods. These reports show how valuable (and indeed how undervalued) reuse and repair is when compared to buying, using and throwing away cheap stuff, which seems to get cheaper and lower in quality every year. GEN-Z are rejecting cheap in favour of quality and value as are new kids on the block, the GEN-Alphas, and we’re really pleased (as staunch GEN-Xers) that this is happening.
