DID YOU SEE… TEDx TALK!

Stuff4Life founder John Twitchen was invited by University of Hertfordshire to give a TEDx Talk back at his and co-founder Miles’s old university - John reported it’s the most terrifying and challenging thing he’s ever done (so far…) - committing a seventeen minute speech to memory is no mean feat!

Enjoy it or just throw tomatoes here.

John’s talk, Environmental Entrepreneurs and why Action Speaks Louder Than Words, can be summed up in three words: quote; space; stripes… find out what the heck this means by watching it over on TEDx (a mind-bogglingly brilliant place - you’ll get lost there for hours!).

WE’RE ON A RAISE… INVESTORS SOUGHT

After making significant progress developing its circular workwear solutions over the last twelve months - including our partnership with Staysafe laundry, Second Time debrand service and depolymerisation technology - in response to clear industry, customer and policy signals, Stuff4Life is currently engaging with prospective investors to secure seed funding to scale up its business and build a polyester depolymerisation commercial pilot plant.

NEWS IN BRIEF

Why we’re optimistic… we were pleased to see Luton Airport has set up a lilo reuse scheme to encourage those returning from their holiday this year to donate unwanted inflatables to other travellers heading out for their week in the sun - but do they make it back that far and is there a better way of doing it? We think so… but we’re still optimistic.

And we got to include an image of an inflatable pink flamingo in our newsletter, which is ace. Read more here.

How we’re celebrating… Team Mind sent five racers - Lucy, Norah, Millie, Osh and Keefer - to the BMX World Championships in Copenhagen! It’s one of the few sports where younger athletes are able to compete for a world title, and it’s a huge experience for all ages of bike racer. To qualify, racers have to finish in the top 14 in their category in the British BMX National Series - no mean feat in its own right.

The last domestic national event of the year, the British BMX Championships, will be held at Cyclopark in Kent across the Bank Holiday weekend. Team Mind has six riders heading to the champs wearing the regional #1 on their plates, along with a couple of #2 plates too! You can watch LIVE over on BMX Race Hub.

What we’re reading and watching…

We’re reading The Zero Waste Europe manifesto calling for much greater focus on reuse in an overhaul of EPR systems in the upcoming Circular Economy Act. Well worth a read.

We’re watching This #workplaceunplugged webinar all about reuse and felt inspired - it’s well worth watching back.
